Open our doors to everyone
Help us raise $15,000 to unlock a $20,000 State Grange matching grant for our hall’s first fully accessible, all-gender restroom.
THE NEED
A 1940 hall, built
before access was required.
Our hall has welcomed Bakersfield for more than eight decades, but it has no wheelchair-accessible restroom. We will remodel the men’s room and anteroom into a single-occupancy, all-gender, ADA-compliant restroom with grab bars and full turning clearance.
It serves everyone: dancers, seniors with walkers, wheelchair users, parents with young children, and anyone assisted by a caregiver of another gender.
Drawings and contractor estimates from Kern River Contractors are in hand. Permits will be pulled once the project is fully funded.

Where every dollar goes.
Project budget
Contractor (Kern River Contractors): $34,459.63
County permit: $1,800.00
15% contingency: $5,438.94
Total: $41,698.58
How it’s funded
State Grange matching grant: $20,000
Local match: $22,224.40
Raising $15,000 keeps our emergency reserves intact and retires a $14,000 member loan.
If we fall short — or go over
Under $15,000, Grange reserves bridge the gap so the project still moves forward.
Anything above the goal goes to the contingency fund and ongoing hall revitalization.
Give in two steps.
